Gallery Tour and Art Workshop Experience

Experience Scottish art in a deeper and more creative way with Kirsteen’s Gallery Tour and Art Workshop experience — a unique combination of an artist-led gallery tour, inspiring conversation, and practical creativity in some of Edinburgh’s most beautiful galleries.

 

This relaxed three-hour experience begins with a guided tour of the Scottish Collection at the Scottish National Gallery. Led by Scottish artist Kirsteen Lyons-Benson BA (Hons), the tour explores how artists use light, shadow, tonal value, colour, composition, and brushwork to create atmosphere and emotion.

 

Rather than simply focusing on dates and names, you will discover how and why paintings were created, gaining insight into artistic process, Scottish culture, storytelling, and the ideas behind the work. Kirsteen’s background growing up within Scotland’s art world gives the tours a personal and authentic perspective rarely found in standard museum tours.

 

After the gallery tour, there is time for a relaxed coffee break in the gallery café before a short historic walk through Edinburgh’s city centre to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

 

Surrounded by inspiring architecture and world-class artworks, you will then create your own drawings or paintings inside the gallery itself. Kirsteen provides encouraging guidance, artistic hints, and simple demonstrations throughout, helping complete beginners and experienced artists alike enjoy the creative process with confidence.

All art materials are provided.
