A loch is the Scottish word for a lake or sea inlet, and Loch Lomond—one of Scotland’s most celebrated lochs—has always been part of my own landscape. It is visible from my birthplace, a constant presence throughout my early life, and I’ve always thought of it as my loch: familiar, grounding, and endlessly inspiring.
 
In this painting, the winter hills catch the last light of sunset, turning the snow a delicate blush pink. That warmth is reflected across the quiet surface of the loch, creating a soft, harmonious glow between land and water. Loose impressionist brushwork and layered mixed media give the scene movement and depth, capturing both the stillness and emotional resonance of a place tied deeply to memory.
