Malta Street is inspired by my first experience of Malta when I was sixteen years old. I remember stepping off the plane into heat I had never felt before, as if the air itself was glowing. The streets were flooded with light — pale stone walls, deep shadows, vivid blues and sun-warmed yellows. That intensity stayed with me.
This painting captures the feeling of wandering through a Maltese street, where history, colour, and light collide. Loose, expressive marks suggest architecture softened by time, while layers of paint evoke heat, movement, and memory rather than a fixed place. It is less about a specific street and more about the sensation of being young, overwhelmed, and awake to the world.
Edges are painted, and the artwork is ready to hang.
