“Tide Is Out 2” continues the quiet story of the shoreline once the sea has withdrawn, revealing wide bands of warm ochre sand beneath an open sky. The surface is layered with mixed media textures, suggesting ripples left by water, scattered stones, and traces of seaweed resting lightly across the beach.
Here the composition feels broader and more spacious, with a stronger sense of horizon and distance. Earthy sand tones dominate, contrasted by cooler hints of lingering blue at the water’s edge. Oil pastel marks bring subtle structure and movement, guiding the eye across the exposed shoreline.
 
The painting carries a gentle nostalgia — memories of building sandcastles, walking across firm, damp sand, and feeling the scale of the coast stretch endlessly outward.
